One of my favorite clients, the Hollywood Property Owners Alliance, recently moved their office to a beautiful, hip new storefront location in the middle of Hollywood, immediately dressing up the neighborhood with their brightly lit windows.
To celebrate their move-in, they invited the community to an “Open House.” As someone once said, I wish you were there. It was quite the Oscars themed event, complete with running film screen clips and local personalities. A real nice community mixer. Since you couldn’t be there, to give you a taste, here’s what my Sony a7S and I saw, reporting on Hollywood.
About The Hollywood Property Owners Alliance
The Hollywood Property Owners Alliance is a 501(c)6 nonprofit corporation that manages the Hollywood Entertainment District property business improvement district (BID). The HPOA is governed by 17 property owners and/or representatives representing the diverse array of property types in the District: commercial, residential, hotel, parking lot, nonprofit and government owned.
The HED is funded by approximately 400 property owners who assess themselves more than $3.4M annually to pay for cleaning, security, streetscape and marketing services.
The HPOA meets monthly, on the third Thursday each month at 4 p.m. There are three active committees. The Joint Security Committee meets in concert with members of the Sunset & Vine BID (the sister BID to the south) on the second Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. The Joint Streetscape & Planning Committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.. The HED Ad-hoc Marketing working group meets on an as-needed basis. All committees, and the board meeting, are open to the public. Agendas are posted at the HPOA staff office at 6562 Hollywood Blvd., and also on the website.
In addition to managing the Hollywood Entertainment District BID, under contract to the city of Los Angeles, the HPOA has also entered into a service contract with the Central Hollywood Coalition, to manage the day to day operations of the Sunset & Vine BID. There are five full-time staff employed by the HPOA. For more information, contact Kerry Morrison, executive director, at firstname.lastname@example.org
